Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled person for the position of Family Service Worker.  CFS-CM is a non-profit charitable organization with a history of applying innovative models in service delivery.  We use a strength-based approach in supporting families.  This position is located in Portage la Prairie.

Primary Responsibilities

  • To accept referrals from Intake on clients deemed appropriate under the Child and Family Services Act.
  • Provide on-going assessment, case planning and case management services on assigned files.
  • To make appropriate referrals to other community services for treatment or other services where required.
  • To bring children into the care of the agency, where appropriate, and to act in the best interests of those children.
  • To work collaboratively with foster parents, other workers and other service providers to ensure the best interest of client families.
  • Be familiar with and to comply with all provincial legislation, regulations and standards and with Agency and Authority policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Masters of Social Work with a background in Child and Family Services required.
  • Eligible to be registered with the College of Social Work
  • A valid driver’s license is required.  The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Records, Child Abuse and Prior Contact Checks.
  • Experience with computers, the ability to prioritize and organize tasks, interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team are required.

Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled person for the position of Intake Worker.  CFS-CM is a non-profit charitable organization with a history of applying innovative models in service delivery.  We use a strength-based approach in supporting families.  This is a Full- Time position starting as soon as possible located in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Duties:

  • To act as the first contact for the Four Authorities on new referrals by phone, mail or walk-in.
  • To assess those referrals to determine whether they fall within the parameters of the Child and Family Services Act.
  • To take such steps as are necessary where immediate action is required to protect a child.
  • To refer those intakes that don’t fall within the parameters of the Act to the appropriate service.
  • To adhere to all of the administrative requirements of the agency, the province and those established in collaboration with the Four Authorities.
  • To comply with all requirements regarding entry of information on the intake module.

Qualifications:

  • BSW or MSW preferred with a background in Child and Family Services
  • Eligible for registration with the College of Social Work
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and several years of experience in Child and Family Services
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated skill and judgment in assessing risk in child protection situations
  • Ability to flex office hours to accommodate the need for noon hour coverage.

Through the work, supported by the Foundation, to enhance community understanding of the goals of Child and Family Services to enhance the lives of children.  Thus allowing the Agency to deliver programs outside the provincial Child Welfare mandate.  This position is located in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. 

QUALIFICATIONS:      

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and promote large scale events
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with businesses in order to support fundraising
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with media to promote events
  • Grade 12 (Minimum)
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Provide a clear Child Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • The organization, implementation and coordination of an annual fundraising campaign.
  • To explore possible opportunities for fundraising events.
  • To report to the executive director and the foundation board of directors on a regular basis.
  • To organize the annual fundraising events of the foundation.
  • To complete other tasks assigned from time to time by their immediate supervisor.
  • Through the work, supported by the Foundation, to enhance community understanding of the goals of Child and Family Services to enhance the lives of children.  Thus allowing the Agency to deliver programs outside the provincial Child Welfare mandate.

Salary for the position is as per the CUPE Local #2483 Collective Agreement (HS 1 scale) $44,858.18 to $53,648.82 annually.

Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba Inc. requires the services of a post-secondary student to fill the position of Chance 2 Camp Coordinator

Responsibilities include:

  • advertising the program,
  • receiving and processing applications,
  • maintaining financial records and working within a budget,
  • screening and training volunteer drivers,
  • coordinating rides and other related camp requirements,
  • writing a final report, and
  • assisting social workers with other related activities as time permits. 

Salary for the position is $12.95 per hour (35 hour week). 

The summer term position will start the beginning of May and will end in August.  Some weekend and evening work may be required. 

Preference will be given to students enrolled in Social Work.  Special consideration will be given to candidates who are members of the following population groups:  Youth, Persons with Disabilities, Visible Minorities, Indigenous Peoples, and newcomers.
