Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and skilled person for the position of Caretaker.  CFS-CM is a non-profit charitable organization with a history of applying innovative models in service delivery.  This position is located in Portage la Prairie starting February 6, 2023.

Duties:                        

  • Vacuum all areas of the building as required.  All areas must be vacuumed twice per week. (Can be done on a rotating basis)
  • Wet mop areas that are not carpeted.
  • Empty and clean waste paper baskets, pick up loose garbage inside and out.
  • Dispose of shredder bag and other garbage in the agreed upon manner.
  • Remove recycling from building.
  • Dust and vacuum the front entrance and reception area daily and ensure the windows are clean.
  • Dust all areas of the building with the exception of the tops of occupied desks (This can be done on a rotating basis to ensure everything is dusted twice a week).
  • Clean bathrooms’, including sinks, toilets, etc. and ensure supplies are replaced.
  • Replace light bulbs or tubes as necessary.

Qualifications:            

  • Grade 12 (Minimum)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid Driver’s license and clear driving record.
  • Access to a truck is required


Salary:                         $19.86 – $22.73 per hr. (dependent upon qualifications) Hours: Minimum 15 hours / week; some work will be done during work hours and some after 4:30pm.

Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and skilled people for the positions of Case Aide (2 positions).  CFS-CM is a non-profit charitable organization with a history of applying innovative models in service delivery.  We use a strength-based approach in supporting families.  These term positions are located in Winkler starting as soon as possible. One term will end August 25, 2023 and the second term end date will be determined.

Duties:                        

In consultation with the assigned social worker, assist in the delivery of agency services as required.  This may include duties such as transporting agency clients as needed, supervising visits between parents and children, gathering resource material for staff and clients as needed.

Qualifications:            

  • Grade 12
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to communicate in Low German would be an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License/Clear Driving Record
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to relate to others.


Salary:                         $14.79 – $19.17 per hr. (dependent upon qualifications)

Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled person for the position of Support Network Facilitator.  CFS-CM is a non-profit charitable organization with a history of applying innovative models in service delivery.  We use a strength-based approach in supporting families.  This position is located in Winkler, Manitoba, but may be required to cover entire region. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To consult with other service providers in the agency on the appropriate use of the family network process.
  • To work respectfully in partnership with other CFSCM staff, families, communities, and community partners to support children, youth and families.
  • To be able to assess and manage conflict and crisis during the collaborative process.
  • To complete reports on the safety plan and network process in a concise way and in a timely fashion.
  • To mentor/coach other agency staff who are implementing support network meetings into their practice.
  • To educate community partners of our region on the support network service that is available to families through our agency.
  • To assist agency staff and families with the development of safety plans/family plans with the purpose of developing safety for children within their family or network of supports.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BSW or MSW preferred with a background in Child and Family Services.
  • Eligible for registration with the College of Social Work.
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and a minimum of 5 years experience in Child and Family Services.
  • Proficiency in CFSIS, Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated skill and judgment in assessment of safety and risk with families.
  • The ability and skill to work in case situations with a solution oriented focus.
  • Knowledge of resources internal and external to the agency and positive relationships with collaterals.
  • Group facilitation/support network facilitation experience.
  • Be available to work flexible hours to accommodate the support networks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • To accept referrals from Intake on clients deemed appropriate under the Child and Family Services Act.
  • Provide on-going assessment, case planning and case management services on assigned files.
  • To make appropriate referrals to other community services for treatment or other services where required.
  • To bring children into the care of the agency, where appropriate, and to act in the best interests of those children.
  • To work collaboratively with foster parents, other workers and other service providers to ensure the best interest of client families.
  • Be familiar with and to comply with all provincial legislation, regulations and standards and with Agency and Authority policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Masters of Social Work with a background in Child and Family Services required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.  The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Records, Child Abuse and Prior Contact Checks.
  • Experience with computers, the ability to prioritize and organize tasks, interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team are required.
